This is a variation of Italian Seitan Crumbles, without so much "Italian" flavor. These would be tasty in gravy or with breakfast meals.
Ingredients:
- 1 box wheat gluten (1 1/2 cups)
- 6 tbsp nutritional yeast
- 2 tbsp garbanzo flour
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp ground fennel
- pinch marjoram
- 1 tsp ground sage
- 1/4 tsp dry mustard
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tbsp A1
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 3 tbsp oil
- 11 tbsp "marmite water" - see notes on original recipe
Instructions:
- Combine dry ingredients.
- Add liquid and combine. This is easy to mix my hand. Mix until just combined - no need to knead.
- Pinch into small crumbles.
- Brown in oil and soy sauce for approximately 10 minutes.
- I like to further cook by baking in the oven. Approximately 20-30 minutes around 250 degrees. Cook until you're happy with their done-ness and texture.
